Robert Pearlman | A photo from inside the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility at Johnson Space Center appears to offer the first, albeit out of focus, look at the International Space Station Expedition 64 insignia. Expedition 64 will include NASA astronaut Kate Rubins and Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov. SpaceX's Crew 1 members Mike Hopkins, Vic Glover, Shannon Walker and JAXA astronaut Soichi Noguchi may join the expedition, pending the date of their launch. |

Tom | Very nice!! |
Panther494 | That's a great design. I hope the patch is executed well to do it justice. |
Kevin T. Randall | Looking at the design above I think this Expedition 64 patch will be another printed one like the Expedition 60 and 63 patches. I see this Expedition 64 "embroidered" patch is for sale already on eBay from Malaysia. |
Russian | Is there a simplified version? |
KAPTEC | If they do it again "printed" we will always have Nick. |

Are you referring to the embroidery version of the design? |
Russian | I'm interested in graphics of the simplified version. Is it a simulation of it? |
MSS | Will this be the final version of the Expedition 64 embroidered patch? Photo via Skyforce. |
PowerCat | I am betting we might not see an Expedition patch with names on it for a while. Looking at some lists of who the crew members will be on Expeditions 63, 64 and 65, you might have to loop around the patch twice to get all the names on it. |
Kevin T. Randall | This Expedition 64 patch has now been listed on the AB Emblem website with SKU patch design number 425622, on the new style "crown emblem" labels with "Made In USA" on. The date codes seen so far are as follows; - 425622 A-B Emblem Made In USA 08/2020 (Not seen or confirmed yet)
- 425622 A-B Emblem Made In USA 0872020 ("7" instead of "/" error)
- 425622 A-B Emblem Made In USA 09/2020 (seen and confirmed by B McKay)
- 425622 A-B Emblem Made In USA 0972020 ("7" instead of "/" error) from Baikonur.
- 425622 A-B Emblem Made In USA 09 2020 (missing "/") from Baikonur.
- 425622 A-B Emblem Made In USA 11 2020
- 425622 A-B Emblem Made In USA 12/20 20 (JSC cards) S/T
- 425622 A-B Emblem Made In USA 01/21 20
- 425622 A-B Emblem Made In China 02/21 40
These two patches are from the batch of Expedition 64 patches supplied by AB Emblem to Roscosmos. |
Russian | Got this photos from Kentavr-Nauka firm. They ordered these patches and put them on their onboard suits for the MS-17 crew.
Even NASA TsPK office ordered this version of the patch for some purposes. NASA TsPK office ordered 30 patches from the same manufacturer in Russia as Kentavr. Kentavr didn't get US made patches for the onboard suits. I don't exclude these patches, they're not only in training suits but on Sokols as will. Borders were closed and social isolations measures in TsPK pushed to such a decision. Here the border of the patch is more visible. Not AB Emblem. |
Russian | So up to now Russian made Expedition 64 patches were produced 28 for Kentavr (they will send more polos and T-shirts with the next Progress cargo) and 30 for NASA TsPK office (training suits and space suits). |
waa49 | Who can provide an explanation of the patch? |
Robert Pearlman | collectSPACE Astronaut Kate Rubins drew from photo to design new space station patchAn astronaut's photograph of the Earth is set to represent her and her crewmates' new mission, almost four years to the day after the image was first shared with the public. NASA flight engineer Kate Rubins, whose previous stay on the International Space Station (ISS) was in 2016, returned to the orbiting laboratory last week. Together with her two crewmates, Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Rubins will begin the space station's 64th increment when the prior crew departs the station to return to Earth on Wednesday (Oct. 21). As tradition dictates, with the start of an expedition comes a new mission patch. |

Here is NASA's official description of the Expedition 64 patch: The Expedition 64 patch shows the International Space Station illuminated by the city lights of earth. The illumination of the space station modules represents the enduring partnership and continuous human presence on station for 20 years. The modules from all partner countries represent the international cooperation, which sustains this presence in space. The aurora and light behind the horizon are beautiful features of our home planet, and the Moon and stars in the background shows our future exploration beyond Earth. |
